How to find ichthyosaur spawn locations in Ark Survival Ascended

In Ark Survival Ascended, the Ichthyosaur races across the oceans, a dangerous and fast aquatic dinosaur that often ranks high on players’ tamed lists.

However, to find or tame them, you need to know where they prefer to live.

Ichthyosaur spawn locations in Ark Survival Ascended

In Ark Survival Ascend, the ichthyosaur will spawn in open bodies of water, such as the ocean. An aquatic predator, this curious dinosaur needs plenty of open space to spawn.

On the Island map, which is currently the only map available in the game, you will find an ichthyosaur in the ocean surrounding the island. Go to the edge of the map and look around. Because they are curious, they will approach you without hostility unless provoked, of course.

Just be careful of all the other dangerous aquatic creatures you meet along the way!

How to tame an Ichthyosaur in Ark Survival Ascend

Taming an Ichthyosaur is not the same as taming other animals in Ark Survival Ascended. He should not be beaten with a wooden bat for some time and should not be force-fed food. This must be done in a non-hostile manner.

The ichthyosaur is curious, meaning it will approach you. You will need the meat ready and will have to feed it as it gets closer. You can only feed him when he’s hungry, so if he’s full and not fully tamed, you’ll have to wait until he’s hungry again.

Luckily, a taming icon will appear so you can identify it and keep track of it no matter how far you go, unless you close the icon.

Feeding an ichthyosaur this way is tedious and difficult, so some recommend locking it up or using other domesticated animals to prevent it from escaping. Once the taming meter is full, you will receive a tamed Ichthyosaur!
