While exploring the Oceanview Hotel in Alan Wake 2, you will soon realize that you need to find the key to room 101. The door to the room is locked, but requires a key to open it.
It’s not part of the main mission, but it’s still a secret door begging you to open it. If you’re like me and want to know what’s behind all the secret doors, I’ll explain where to find that key.
Oceanview Hotel Room 101, key location in Alan Wake 2
You can easily miss this key point, so I don’t blame you if you came here for help. There are several locked doors in this hotel, but after achieving my goal, I never opened room 101. The key to room 101 of the Oceanview Hotel in Alan Wake 2 can be found in the small lounge in the Ballroom.
When I first opened the Ballroom, I somehow completely missed this Rec Room. I don’t know how, but I slipped past him, perhaps because I was running away from groups of Taken.
At some point during Initiation 5: Room 665, Alan will find himself in the Ballroom. This is one of four main scene rooms that you can customize in your writing room. Once you’re inside, turn right and you’ll find a small, lit room.
This is the rest room. Near the manual save area you should see the key to room 101 on the table. Now head back to room 101 and you’ll find some goodies.
There’s a new “A Writer’s Journey” video on TV that can be added to the Writer’s Room, as well as some supplies in the caches . While this room is not required to complete the game, it is a good idea to get a few extra items before heading off to the next mission.
